Street Children Education and Psychosocial Support
Within Tanzania, children under 15 make up approximately 46% of the population. The number of children living and working on the streets has increased significantly since the early 1990s predominantly due to the impact of poverty and HIV/AIDS on households. Large numbers of children live on the streets of Morogoro. These children suffer from abuse, neglect and discrimination and often forgo their education to earn meager wages as informal workers. In response, Faraja established Street Children Education and Psychosocial Support in 2006. This project aims to rehabilitate street children through education and psychosocial support.
